PET preform is a special blank, which is made of polyethylene terephthalate by injection molding using specialized high-performance injection molding machines. Stage two. The choice of bottle production technology.

There are two main types of PET bottle production: two-stage production and one-stage production. Consider the main differences between these technologies.

Two-stage production PET bottles is the traditional and most common method of making PET containers. It consists in the fact that the preforms are placed in a special oven, where they are heated and then fed through a conveyor for blowing. Depending on the equipment, blowing can be done automatically or manually.

Bottle blowing is often carried out at the final point of use of the container. This is due to the relative cheapness of semi-automatic blow molding equipment and the ability to minimize transportation costs.

It should be noted that blowing bottles of complex shapes will require more advanced equipment, greater blowing pressure, as well as qualified employees. Fully automatic blow molding ensures high productivity and stable quality of PET bottles.

Mono-stage production is a modern way of producing PET bottles on special single-stage injection-blown devices. They allow to produce a full cycle of container manufacturing - from PET granulate to the finished product. The bottle blowing preform is also classified according to its configuration: universal, thick-walled, shortened (in the figure, respectively).

The most common bottle preform is universal. Its surface is flat, without any extensions. If its mass is 42 g, then the length will be 148 mm, the wall thickness will be 3 mm.

The quality of the produced bottle depends on how well the preform is heated in the oven. Therefore, thick-walled and short preforms are less popular - they cause more difficulties in production.

The neck of the preform for PET bottles is formed according to the standards:

(PCO) - drinks with gas and mineral water, as well as beer;
Oil - vegetable oil;
Bericap - drinks, water;
"38" - juices, dairy products.

Preforms are produced by injection molding. The process includes the following steps:

preparation of raw materials (drying);
melting PET to a homogeneous mass;
preform casting;
cooling and unloading of finished products.

It is extremely important to ensure that as much water as possible is removed during the preparation of raw materials. If there is too much water, then the quality of the bottles deteriorates. The dried raw material enters the screw, which melts the mold into a homogeneous mass. That, in turn, enters the mold with nests, where PET is poured and then blanks are formed.
