  • 13.08.2023

The relevance of the project is due to the fact that recently the region’s beef cattle industry has found itself on the brink of survival. If earlier the average purchase price was 180 rubles per kilogram, now our market is flooded with cheap Belarusian pork and beef, which costs an average of 136 rubles. Local processors prefer meat from neighboring countries, and our producers are forced to sell it below cost.

The purpose of this project is the rearing and fattening of young cattle, and the production of livestock products.

The production of this type of product is a promising activity, since the meat products market is one of the largest food markets. At the same time, meat produced by domestic producers is in high demand among the population.

  • Borrowed funds - Loan: Rosselkhozbank - 60,000 rubles. or a subsidy provided by the Employment Center.
  • Own funds - 10,000 rubles.

Project payback period : 1.6 years

2. Description of the business, product or service

Livestock production will specialize in growing and fattening young cattle.

The activity is divided into 3 stages:

  • purchase of dairy calves;
  • caring for calves and bulls;
  • sale of the resulting products (meat), skins.

I plan to set prices per kilogram of meat on average at 150-165 rubles per 1 kg, which is 10 - 15% lower compared to other manufacturers of similar products.

It is planned to sell meat from 3 fattened calves (young cattle) with a live weight of 1200 kg per year.

The meat yield is 650 kg (54% of live weight 1200 kg).

3. Description of the sales market

Products are planned to be sold through sales at retail outlets in the regional center or in nearby cities. There is also a preliminary agreement with individual suppliers. The products will be sold at an average price of 150-165 rubles per 1 kg.

The planned volume of meat sales per year is 650 kg, the planned revenue is 104,000 rubles.

Since domestically produced meat, unlike imported meat from abroad, is in great demand among the population, I plan to develop my activities by selling my products to producers of meat and sausage products.

Young cattle meat is sold on the grocery market in Moscow at average market prices.

4. Production plan

There are outbuildings that require renovation.

  1. in individual cells;
  2. loose housing in groups on deep, permanent bedding;
  3. box housing using slatted floors and feed passages;
  4. loose housing with the installation of wooden flooring in the resting place.

When using individual cages, the risk of developing various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in calves is significantly reduced, but at the same time this type of housing can contribute to the development of diseases of the limbs due to the low level of motor activity.

Wooden floors are considered the warmest.

When installing a floor in a calf barn, you need to remember that its area should not be less than 1.2 square meters per head for calves two to three months old, and at least 1.5 square meters for calves from three months to six months.

When arranging cages for group housing, the front and rear walls must be lattice, while the side walls, on the contrary, must be solid and reach a height of at least one meter.

Thus, the cost of repair work will be 3,000 rubles.

Particular attention when raising calves and young animals is occupied by the issue of nutrition. During the year, it is planned to purchase part of the necessary fodder, hay, feed, and straw.

Currently, there is and is developing a tendency to reduce the consumption of whole milk for feeding calves. Nowadays, according to various estimates, from 180 to 450 liters of milk are consumed to feed one calf. As part of the industrial rearing of calves, high-quality whole milk substitutes are used. In addition, the daily menu of young animals necessarily includes high-quality hay, vitamins, minerals, and high-quality concentrated feed.

The total amount of expenses for these purposes will be 18,000 rubles.

In summer, it is planned to drive calves and bulls to pasture.

For the production of livestock products in the 1st year of activity it is planned to purchase:

It will take an average of 6 months to fatten calves and bulls to marketable weight (400 kg) (an average weight gain of 1600 grams per day). After which the meat will be sold.

Based on the results of activities, it is also planned to sell animal skins for an average amount of 1,000 rubles. It is planned to carry out the slaughter of livestock and cutting up carcasses on our own in a personal farmstead.

The price for 1 kg of meat for the first year of activity consists of the following costs:

Naming of expenditures

Amount in rubles at 650 kg

Amount in rubles per 1 kg

Material costs for:

purchase of 3 calves (bulls)

purchase of feed

Fare

Energy costs

Tax deductions (USN 6% of income)

5. Organizational structure

Entrepreneurial activity is registered as a peasant (farm) enterprise. A farm carries out entrepreneurial activities without forming a legal entity.

A farm may be recognized as an agricultural producer in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.

A peasant (farm) enterprise is an association of citizens related by kinship and (or) property, having property in common ownership and jointly carrying out production and other economic activities (production, processing, storage, transportation and sale of agricultural products), based on their personal participation.

Form of ownership - private.

A farm can be created by one citizen.

There are no plans to attract hired workers.

The entrepreneurial activities of a farm carried out without the formation of a legal entity are subject to the rules of civil legislation that regulate the activities of legal entities that are commercial organizations, unless otherwise follows from federal law, other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation or the essence of legal relations.

The total cost of the project will be 70,000 rubles, of which:

  • Credit: Rosselkhozbank - 60,000 rubles. or a subsidy provided by the Employment Center.
  • own funds - 10,000 rubles.

6. Financial plan

When an individual entrepreneur receives income (clause 2 of Article 236 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation), the object of taxation is income from entrepreneurial or other professional activities.

STS 6% is one of the simplest taxation systems. Its main advantages are simplicity, exemption from paying some taxes and the absence of complex reporting, so it is optimally suited for small business owners.

At the same time, an individual entrepreneur on “income” can reduce the tax base due to insurance premiums by 100% if no one is on the staff. It is also exempt from VAT and personal income tax, which makes this tax system attractive to many entrepreneurs.

Tax deductions will amount to 6,240 rubles per year.

Since 2014, individual entrepreneurs have been paying insurance premiums differentially depending on the income received in the reporting year.

Since 2014, if the amount of income of an individual for the billing period (calendar year) does not exceed 300,000 rubles, then the fixed amount of the insurance premium for compulsory pension insurance will be calculated as the product of 1 minimum wage established at the beginning of the year for which insurance premiums are paid, and the tariff of insurance contributions to the Pension Fund (26%), increased by 12 times. This will be 17,328.48 rubles. (RUB 5,554 X 26% X 12).

For individual entrepreneurs on the simplified tax system “Income”, the tax on the simplified tax system for individual entrepreneurs without employees is reduced by the amount of insurance contributions. Therefore, for now we will not take into account the payment of a fixed payment in the calculation.

Animal husbandry can rightfully be considered one of the most ancient crafts of human society. The primitive population also survived thanks to animal husbandry. A lot of time has passed, but nothing has changed. Meat is still considered an indicator of wealth, abundance and luxury. For these and many other reasons, animal husbandry is a very attractive way to start your own business. In order to succeed, it is imperative to create a livestock farming business plan.

Livestock farming business involves not only meat, but also dairy products. The production of meat and dairy products is a very popular area of agricultural business. Meat and dairy products have always been in great demand among wide sections of the population. A business plan must take into account all possible costs, include an algorithm of actions, and all possible risks.

The traditional branch of livestock farming is the breeding of cattle, piglets and poultry. Due to the decrease in the number of farms, the demand and price for livestock products (meat, dairy products) increases, which makes it possible to boldly enter into this area of activity. If we look at statistics, we can take into account, for example, the cost of one pig in 2005. You can notice that if then it cost about 500 rubles, now its price will exceed 800 rubles.

Having carried out the correct calculations, you can come to a conclusion about the profitability of this business.

Starting a business

It is mandatory to register this business activity. involves individual entrepreneurial activity with a private form of ownership.

The number of heads of livestock for breeding business should ideally be 250-350 units. For breeding and growth of the farm, out of the total number of animals, about 120 must be females. If the rest of the heads are put up for sale, this will allow for a fairly quick return on investment. There are some factors to consider when purchasing livestock. So, when choosing a male, his pedigree up to the third generation plays an important role. If you follow this advice, your business will only prosper.

A lot of money will have to be spent on purchasing feed for livestock. An average number of heads per year will require at least 500 tons of feed. When raising livestock for sale, it would be more rational to stock up on special mixtures that promote rapid growth and weight gain of livestock. It is also worth remembering that for better results and livestock health, it is necessary to periodically include special fortified supplements in the animals’ diet. This also requires some funds.

In addition to purchasing the livestock itself and feed for it, you will need to purchase special sheds and pens. All these costs, so necessary at the initial level of starting a business, will cost approximately 4-5 million rubles.

If you are ready to invest these funds in opening your business, your farm will pay for itself within 3-4 years of operation.

Equipment of premises and sale of livestock

Before equipping a premises for raising livestock, it is necessary to determine where it will be located. To do this, you can purchase some inexpensive farm or rent it. The premises must be well repaired, disinfected, and livestock drinking troughs must be replaced or cleaned.

It is definitely worth allocating a special separate room for females, which will serve as their mother’s room. The premises must take into account some points. It must be well ventilated and the temperature must be stable. This facility should provide the best possible care for mother and offspring.

Young cattle can also be sold live. By the way, such a beast costs a lot of money. But already adult cattle can be resold to clients involved in the production of meat food products, as well as dairy products.

In the livestock business, as in any other, advertising plays a big role. Visiting various exhibitions will allow you to find your regular client. It is necessary to choose the healthiest and most beautiful cattle for these events, and then the success of your business will be ensured.

Deciding on the choice of livestock

Livestock farming includes more than just raising cows and pigs. Rams, goats, sheep, and even camels are also suitable for sale and breeding.

Before deciding on keeping livestock, you need to determine for yourself the goals that you want to achieve and the audience to which your products will be targeted. For example, in Muslim villages and cities, the decision to raise pigs will not be very rational.

If you want to connect directly with dairy plants, it makes more sense to raise cows and goats. In the person of the dairy plant, you have the opportunity to find your regular customer. The main thing is to remember that the product must be at the highest level, its quality should not be inferior to other manufacturers.

Sales of products can also be carried out independently - through retail outlets. It’s up to you to decide whether to sell livestock products yourself or sell goods through intermediaries.

Financial calculations and attracting investors

So, as mentioned above, a mandatory point in organizing a livestock business is the purchase of equipment and arrangement of premises. This procedure requires considerable investment. To start a business, the paddock area can be about 150 square meters. m. It will be enough for a beginner to raise up to 200 heads of livestock. A large number of goals will be much more difficult to cope with, but a smaller number will pay for itself in a long time.

A very important point in starting a livestock business is the selection and hiring of personnel. At the initial stage of activity, at least six different specialists will be sufficient. A veterinarian, livestock specialist and other general workers must be present. Management personnel may also be required.

You should definitely include in your business plan funds to pay taxes, utilities, and purchase all necessary permits. We must not forget about the wages of the working staff. As a rule, the amount for labor costs is one third of all the funds needed to start a business.

The state itself can become an investor in your business. Now the state pays great attention to the development of agricultural activities. The success of your business will depend on how competently and correctly your business plan is drawn up; you will easily be able to take out a loan, and maybe even non-repayable subsidies. Then the question of financing will no longer worry you.

Home \ Business plans in the agricultural sector \ Business plan for raising cattle for meat production

Cattle meat production is currently a promising branch of livestock farming, since the meat products market is one of the largest food markets.

Business plan for raising cattle

Raising and breeding beef cattle makes it possible to obtain high-quality meat, and in those places where the development of other livestock sectors is limited due to lack of capital investment, labor, and natural and climatic conditions. Meat products are in constant demand both among the population and among organizations when purchasing meat products for further processing.

Cattle meat, which includes beef and veal, has excellent taste and nutritional qualities, so it is in great demand among consumers, which can become a promising business. Beef and veal differ significantly in composition from lamb and pork. Beef has an optimal ratio of protein and fat. It contains less cholesterol and more beneficial amino acids, fatty acids and minerals. Therefore, beef has higher nutritional value compared to other types of meat. Its digestibility is about 95%.

The implementation of this project contributes to solving problems within the framework of the state doctrine of food security of the country, aimed at import substitution of basic food products, which include beef. The project corresponds to the state target program “Development of agriculture and regulation of markets for agricultural products, raw materials and food for 2013 - 2020.” and “Strategies for the development of meat livestock farming in the Russian Federation until 2020.” The starting conditions for increasing cattle meat production and creating sustainable development on the part of the state have been created, and this industry is becoming more and more attractive for business.

The feasibility of the project is also due to the shortage of cattle meat that has developed in recent years in the Tambov region, including meat with high taste qualities obtained from special beef breeds of livestock.

According to official statistics, annual beef consumption in the Tambov region is at the level of 26.26 thousand tons per year. The annual production volume, in slaughter weight, for all categories of farms in the region for 2015 is 1.8 thousand tons, thus, the annual need of the population, not to mention the need of the processing industry, for the products of local producers is satisfied by only 6.85%. Sustainable development of raising cattle for meat production and increasing the production of high-quality beef is not happening.

The shortage of cattle meat in the region is covered mainly by its supply from neighboring regions. However, Tambov meat processing enterprises are very interested in increasing beef production at the local level, since this measure will significantly reduce transport costs, and therefore the cost of finished products.

Raising beef cattle as a business

Based on the market analysis, the beef production segment in the region has a huge capacity; according to statistics, it is 93.15% free, which indicates a high demand for the products planned for production in peasant farms, and also opens up potential prospects for increasing the beef cattle population on the farm .

In the current conditions, it is most advisable to use effective business plans to obtain high-quality meat when raising beef cattle.

The technology used has a great influence on the intensity of cattle breeding. keeping cattle. One of the main prerequisites for the successful intensification of livestock breeding is taking into account the biological requirements of animals for living conditions. Technological solutions used on farms should not conflict with the biological needs of animals. At the same time, not all technological methods that have developed in household farming are justified from a physiological point of view. Therefore, the tasks of the livestock breeder are to, with the help of technical means and the use of rational technological methods, create optimal conditions for keeping cattle, conducive to the manifestation of their productive inclinations. If this is not achieved, then the work being carried out to increase the genetic potential of animals becomes ineffective.

On dairy farms, two methods of keeping cows are used, which have a fundamental difference: tethered And loose .

With the first method, cows are kept in individual stalls near feeders, into which feed is supplied in a standardized manner; with the second, animals are placed in group sections of the barn with free access to feed.

With both methods, in the summer, depending on farm conditions, different maintenance systems are used. If there are good long-term cultivated or natural pastures, stall-pasture or camp-pasture management is used. With stall-pasture keeping cows They are kept indoors at night and grazed during the day. Camp-pasture keeping of cattle involves placing cows in the summer in summer camps, which are lightweight buildings located at a certain distance from the farm, but close to the grazing areas. This allows you to avoid large movements of cows to pasture.

In farms where there are no pastures or their areas are limited, they use stall-walking system for keeping cows . In this case, in the summer, animals are fed in stalls or pens equipped with feeders, mowed green mass, or year-round feeding of the same type is used with feed mixtures of silage, haylage, hay and root crops. With this housing system, active cow walks are carried out in the summer by driving them a distance of up to 3 km 2 times a day.

The experience of advanced farms shows that with all methods and systems of keeping dairy cows, high milk yields (from 4000 to 8000 kg) can be obtained in different zones of the country.

Systems and methods for keeping young animals cattle are selected taking into account natural, climatic and economic conditions and a loose or tethered system is used. Accumulated production and experimental data give reason to believe that the free-stall system is the most promising, since the area for housing young animals is reduced, tethers and individual drinking bowls are not required, the use of complex mechanization of feed distribution and manure removal is facilitated, and the animals’ bones and hoof horns are better formed. Free-stall housing on slatted floors in cages of 15-20 animals each with mechanical removal of manure from the premises using a delta scraper or self-rafting machine has proven especially effective.

On farms that have a sufficient amount of straw, young animals are kept loose on deep, permanent litter. Such a housing system requires the timely creation of a layer of straw bedding and its regular addition to maintain a good microclimate in the room and a warm den for animals to rest.

Box content- loose housing option. Pens for young animals are equipped with individual boxes (in a 1:1 ratio), thanks to which the animal receives a dry bed with minimal or no bedding consumption. It is advisable that the boxes are separated from the feeding areas. The den is formed from earth and clay, compacted tightly and covered with a small layer of straw or sawdust. Expanded clay concrete, wood or other suitable materials can be used as materials for the boxes. The floor in the boxes must be sloping. Dimensions of boxes for young animals aged 6 - 12 months: length 1.3-1.5 m, width 0.6-0.7 m; for young animals aged 12 months and older: 1.5-1.7 and 0.8-0.9 m.

During the post-milk period and during growing, calves are kept in summer camps near pastures. For the camp, choose a dry, elevated place that is not flooded with rainwater.

Where to begin

Summer light rooms are installed on the camp territory; for older groups of young animals, three-walled sheds with feeders for concentrates, green and other feeds, troughs for water and mineral supplements are installed.

Approximately for one head of young animals, at the age of 6 months to a year, 0.3 m of a feeder or trough is required, for those over a year old - 0.4 m. The troughs must be kept clean, there should be no dirt or old feed residues at the bottom.

All areas of pasture intended for young animals are inspected before grazing to determine whether it is infested with worms and whether there are good approaches to water sources.

Before grazing, the pasture should be divided into separate areas (paddocks) and grazing them one by one. If possible, it is advisable to fence pastures to reduce labor costs, in addition, animals graze more peacefully. The number of plots is determined by the size of the herd and the quality of the pasture.

On small-sized farms, tethered keeping of young animals on pasture can be used. As one area is grazed, the animals are transferred to another. The radius of grazing, depending on the age of the young animals, is 10-15 m. With such a housing system, it is necessary to give the young animals clean water 2-3 times a day, and, if necessary, feed concentrates from small portable feeders.

When keeping young animals tethered during rearing, the following stall sizes are provided: for young animals 6–12 months old, length—1.5 m, width—0.7–0.8 m; for older young animals and large animals, the length is 1.6-1.7 m, width 0.9 m.

Cattle(abbr. cattle) - farm animals of the “Bulls” subfamily. The main purpose of cattle breeding is the production of meat and the production of skins and sometimes wool. Additional income in each of the main areas is breeding for the purpose of selling young animals.

Mandatory in any of the directions, you will definitely need agricultural equipment for the preparation and transportation of feed, animals, hand tools, a hayloft, a calf barn, areas for walking and grazing cattle, a barn with stands, thanks to which it becomes more convenient to feed the animals, as well as to carry out control.

You should immediately think about veterinary medicine, since livestock can become ill with very serious and dangerous diseases such as anthrax and various influenzas, in which all livestock are sent to slaughter. Any farmer must monitor the cleanliness of his production premises, pastures and periodically carry out processing required by veterinary medicine.

Depending on the possibility of peasant farming, climatic conditions, as well as meat requirements, several systems for keeping cattle are used:

  • Stall-pasture. They are kept indoors in winter (with regular walking in pens), and in summer on pasture. In warm seasons, pen-camps are equipped in which animals are kept. Each cow has access to greens, water, and mineral elements.
  • Stall-walking system. With it, the herd is kept indoors with mandatory daily walks in special runs, platforms, and mechanized installations.

Farmers often build sheds under which bulls and cows rest or hide from bad weather.

Breeding bulls for meat

Meat breeds

Since the trend in recent years has been the breeding of breeds that produce high-quality meat, for example, marbled meat, we will first list the meat breeds that have marbleization. Many of them are already being bred by enterprising businessmen in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

Aberdeen Angus

This breed is naturally prone to marbling, and proper fattening and care can produce meat of the highest marble category - completely permeated with the thinnest layers of fat, very juicy and tender. Angus gains weight in the region of 1 ton and has a height of up to 1.6 meters. They were bred in Scotland, from where they spread throughout the world, including the CIS countries.

Limousinskaya

Limousines grow up to 1.5 meters in height and weigh about 1 ton. The meat is very tender, juicy with varying degrees of marbling. It is the most exported among French breeds.

Charolais

Originally from France, it grows up to 1.5 meters in height and weighs about 1,500 kilograms. The best bulls of this breed have a genetic defect in the form of increased production of the protein myostatin, which is responsible for increasing muscle mass. But it is impossible to carry out selection on this basis. However, normal Charolais also produce excellent marbled and lean meat.

Hereford

Height is about 1.5 meters, weight is about 1100 kg. Herefords come from England and were bred as meat breeds. It is quite unpretentious, so it occupies one of the most important places in the meat market. When properly fattened, the meat is very well marbled.

Shorthorn

It was bred in England and is one of the most common. Shorthorns are characterized by high early maturity. The weight of cows is 500-600 kg, bulls - 800-1000 kg. The meat is very tender, juicy, with fat evenly permeated. The average slaughter yield is around 65%.

Grain and grass fed

This example is suitable for both a large farm and a small one.

Refers to agricultural activity.

Since ancient times it has brought great profits.

This industry is considered one of the most promising.

Even in ancient times, people raised livestock to provide for their families and to sell.

Of course, the sphere is large. The main thing here is to choose the right direction. And for this it is necessary to determine which direction is in demand in the region of residence.

But, even having decided on an animal, an entrepreneur should take into account that in order to open a business, he will have to have quite a bit of money that will have to be invested. If set up correctly, livestock farming as a business from scratch will quickly pay for itself.

In Russia, livestock farming is becoming increasingly popular not only among ordinary people, but also among entrepreneurs. This is due to some indicators:

  • Our country has special programs that support farming. Entrepreneurs are provided with various subsidies and benefits, and are also given land for running a farming business.
  • A noticeable increase in the cost of products, which provides greater profits.
  • The product line obtained from this type of activity is always in demand. Entrepreneurs, as a rule, have their own distribution channels.
  • Restrictions have now been introduced on the import of products from abroad into the market.
  • A large number of directions. Introduction of new varieties, for example, ostrich breeding.
  • Russian products inspire confidence and are therefore in demand.

Therefore, farming activity is considered profitable and shows great promise. It is growing rapidly and brings great profits. Just to organize it you will have to make a lot of effort and invest money. At the same time, profit can be made very soon.

How to start an activity

The first thing an entrepreneur needs to determine is what goal he will pursue when raising livestock. It is possible to combine several in one direction. Now there are many directions. For example, they breed:

  • for the purpose of selling meat
  • for milk production
  • generalized method
  • marketing of juveniles

Farming activities are affected by two types of factors: external and internal. The first include:

  • degree of specialization
  • security
  • availability of performance

External factors include:

  • presence of demand
  • economy
  • policy

This type of activity is an integral part of the modern world. By abandoning it, you can return to primitive times. Therefore, livestock farming needs to be supported and developed. Only in this case will the entrepreneur succeed.

Before raising livestock, a beginner in the business should think about several questions:

  • choice of direction
  • business plan preparation
  • registration of activities
  • seeking help from the state
  • purchase of livestock, feed and necessary equipment

Setting up this business correctly involves some difficulties. It is recommended to start in a more familiar direction. It is necessary to adhere to ideas that allow you to quickly recover costs. This will help you reach a new level of activity with greater profits.

Many farmers simultaneously purchase several types of livestock to determine which one will be more profitable and to their liking. After all, each region may have its own level of sales, connections with the needs of people.

Having studied in practice the technology of raising and feeding livestock on a small scale, you can proceed to a large scale. Simply because you need to learn from small things.

Possible areas of livestock farming

Before drawing up a business plan, an entrepreneur needs to carefully understand all sectors of livestock farming. This includes breeding:

  • birds
  • cows
  • deer
  • camels
  • fur animals

Quite often, entrepreneurs are tormented by the question of livestock farming as a business from scratch, which is more profitable.

It is worth noting that the most profitable area is cow breeding.

Entrepreneurs engaged in such business provide the population not only with meat, but also with dairy products.

In addition, young individuals can be sold.

Of course, this direction is labor-intensive. After all, you will have to look for a barn, and for cows it should not be small.

Therefore, for many aspiring entrepreneurs, starting a business with something simpler is possible. Two more equally profitable industries are:

  • pig farming
  • poultry breeding

This is due to the fact that the resulting products are among the most in demand. But to achieve a good result, you need to spend a lot of effort and money.

A stable option would be a large farm with various specializations.

But creating such a business from scratch and right away is quite difficult.

And it will require a lot of investment.

If we consider the direction of cow breeding separately, then with a number of twenty heads one should not expect big profits.

It is necessary to constantly increase the number of animals, and then you can achieve excellent results. However, if you have no experience in this direction, it is better to start with a small amount. To begin with, it is enough to have five heads of cattle. This will make it possible to understand whether this direction is worth pursuing and whether it was chosen correctly.

The most profitable business

As mentioned above, cow breeding is considered the most profitable activity. This is connected, first of all, with providing people not only with meat, but also with dairy products. Before starting such a business, an entrepreneur needs to draw up a business plan. It should include:

  • volumes that the farmer plans to receive
  • expenses for the purchase of livestock, feed and equipment
  • marketing advertising costs
  • designation of sale price
  • information about sales channels
  • employee salary expenses
  • costs for water, consecration and heat
  • expenses for regular medical care of animals, usually related to vaccinations
  • analysis of possible risk
  • planned income
  • business start-up costs
