Rare photos of the past that you probably haven't seen yet. Pages of history come to life: color versions of old black and white photographs Rare black and white photographs

Colorization, or converting a black and white image to color, is a popular phenomenon among modern photographers. What drives people to paint the world around is anyone's guess, but a colorful result is often a great alternative to an already existing monochrome shot. Today we bring to your attention a selection of wonderful old photographs that literally came to life with the help of modern technology.

ColorizedHistory is a project created by photographer Mads Madsen. The social site Reddit employs a group of talented photo artists who are engaged in "decorating" old pictures. The main criteria that they adhere to in their work is historical accuracy and plausibility. This is painstaking work to restore those colors that, due to objective reasons, were not recorded by the camera.

A surge of interest in such photographs was outlined after the Swedish artist Sanna Dullaway published on the Web. Some praised the idea, others scolded, but no one remained indifferent.

The ColorizedHistory collection contains a variety of photographs, most of which were taken in the early 20th century. Here are scenes from Everyday life, historical moments and shots from the life of celebrities. Each photo is another opportunity to look into history. And how it should be (black and white or color) is up to each individual to decide.

Old black-and-white photographs are attractive primarily for their historical value, as a cast of an era. It is always interesting to see how people lived 50 or 100 years ago, their way of life, fashion, work, especially if these are real life pictures, and not something artistic. Well, if it comes to famous events or outstanding personalities, then such photographs arouse not only idle interest, but also historical and scientific.
