Story

JSC "Company TransTeleCom" was founded on February 27, 1997 on the initiative of the Ministry of Railways of Russia with the aim of building a backbone digital communication network for the needs of Russian railways.

In three years, TTK has built a 45,000-kilometer fiber-optic network in the railway right of way, connecting 974 settlements in 71 regions of Russia. On October 13, 2001, TTK officially began commercial operation of its backbone network.

In April 2002, TTK entered the market of services for organizing and maintaining virtual private networks (VPN) using MPLS and IP transit technology. Among the first clients of TTK was the Corbina Telecom Internet provider (currently Vimpelcom PJSC, Beeline brand.

In 2003, the company's revenue increased 2.5 times to $100 million, and the number of corporate clients reached 1,000. In October 2003, TTK was awarded the RBC Company of the Year award in the telecommunications sector.

According to the results of 2004, TTK occupied 40% of the lease market of intercity communication channels, 12% of the market of lease of terrestrial international communication channels, 30% of the market in the IP VPN technology segment, which allows creating multiservice corporate networks, and 45% of the regional market of backbone Internet access.

In February 2005, TTK became a member of the largest European Internet traffic exchange point London Internet Exchange (LINX). In July 2005, TTK became the fifth operator in Russia to receive the right to provide long-distance communication services (after Rostelecom, Centrinfocom, Golden Telecom and MTT).

In May 2006, TTK modernized and put into operation a network using DWDM technology.

In December 2007, TTK and the Japanese company NTT Communications completed the construction of a 570 km submarine fiber-optic cable system HSCS (Hokkaido-Sakhalin Cable System, "Hokkaido-Sakhalin Cable System"). The HSCS was assigned the function of an alternative transcontinental highway for delivering data from Europe to Asia (previously, highways laid along the bottom of the Indian Ocean were used to exchange data between Europe and Asia).

In 2008, the company announced its entry into the retail communications market. In February 2008, TransTeleCom began providing broadband Internet access services to the population, and in June - international and long-distance telephone communication services. In the same year, the company's structures began preparations for the provision of local telephone services to the population.

By May 2009, TTK had covered 40 cities with FTTB networks, including all million-plus cities except Moscow. The company provided broadband Internet access to 3.5 thousand legal entities and 25 thousand private clients. In August 2009, TTK began providing digital television services.

In January 2011, a new strategy was approved, including an increase in the company's share in the broadband Internet access market to 15%. In July 2011, Russian Railways commissioned TransTeleCom an additional 22,000 km of fiber-optic lines, as a result of which the company's backbone network increased almost 1.5 times - from 53,000 km to 75,000 km.

In May 2012, TTK began providing cable television services.

At the end of 2012, TTK completed the construction and put into operation the first fiber-optic communication line in the history of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) on the Tynda-Yakutsk section, and also created an access infrastructure in Yakutsk and Neryungri and entered the market of these cities, offering residents a fundamentally new quality of communication.

In November 2013, TTK became the leader in terms of relative growth in the retail subscriber base in the third quarter, according to iKS-Consulting, a research company. The increase in the subscriber base of TTK for the broadband access service amounted to 39% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2012.

In November 2014, TTK completed the main stage of the reorganization of subsidiaries and their transfer to the status of branches, becoming a single company with a branch management structure.

In 2014, the first commercial networks of wireless broadband Internet access using WiMax technology were launched in five Russian cities: Kostroma, Yelets, Ukhta, Balakovo and Engels.

At the end of 2015, TTK's subscriber base reached 1.9 million Russians. Since the beginning of 2015, TTK's subscriber base has grown by 6%. For five years, since the end of 2010, the total retail subscriber base of TTK has increased 9 times. Since the launch of the retail business development strategy in 2011, TTK has built networks in 250 Russian cities with a total coverage of more than 6 million households.

In March 2016, TTK changed its corporate name in accordance with the law from a closed joint stock company (CJSC) to a joint stock company (JSC).

In February 2017, as part of the agreement, TransTeleCom's backbone network was connected to the Northern Digital Highway (Northern Digital Highway) of the Finnish company Cinia Group, which provides a route for data transmission from large traffic exchange nodes in Central Europe to the border between Finland and Russia. Connecting TTK-Cinia networks adds a new independent optical path with minimum delay to the center of Europe to existing TTK cross-border routes. The new route sends IP traffic from customers in the North-West region of Russia, which reduced the Frankfurt-St. Petersburg round-trip delay by 40% to 24 ms.

In the spring of 2017, TTK launched user support through the Viber and Telegram messengers.

In October 2017, TTK and China Telecom, the world's largest fixed-line network operator, successfully launched a large-scale project to create the first terrestrial high-speed telecommunications route with a capacity of 100 Gbps from China to Europe. The channel will carry large volumes of Asian traffic to the largest exchange point in Frankfurt.

In November 2017, TTK organized a unified contact center for Russian Railways customers in Rostov-on-Don to receive calls from cargo carriers and passengers of Russian Railways. The technological solutions used allow processing up to 8,000 calls per hour and at least 2,000,000 calls per month.

In December 2017, a large-scale project for the construction of digital terrestrial television and radio broadcasting facilities was completed as part of the implementation of the federal target program "Development of television and radio broadcasting in the Russian Federation for 2009–2018" in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). JSC "Company TransTeleCom" in record time in difficult geographical and climatic conditions launched on-air broadcasting of 150 television stations in the region. 95% of the inhabitants of Yakutia received access to digital TV and radio.

History of development

The rapid development of economic relations in our country in the early 90s of the last century revealed the unwillingness of existing communication enterprises to satisfy the demands of rapidly developing commercial enterprises for high-quality multi-channel digital communications and data transmission services.

In order to meet the increased demand in 1996, the Transnet company, engaged in the construction of a network of card transactions and an interbank processing center in Moscow, established Transtelecom OJSC.

Initially, the concept of building its own fiber-optic network was adopted with the organization of nodes based on modern Nortel digital telephone switches.

In 1997, 2 telephone exchanges with a capacity of up to 10,000 subscribers were installed - at the central Transtelecom hub and in the Izmailovo Beta hotel complex. Contracts were concluded with interacting operators and first customers. Some agreements signed at that time are still in force today.

As for any young company with a rapidly growing client base, we needed to solve many issues both in organizing business processes and managing within the company, and in establishing and maintaining external relations. Now, looking back, we can say that the company's team successfully coped with these tasks.

Thanks to the high reputation of the company, in 1998 Transtelecom entered into an agreement to create and implement a program to modernize the Moscow railway network.

Within the framework of this program, in the period 1999-2001, our company replaced obsolete automatic telephone exchanges and channel equipment, organized fiber optic communication lines between the nodes of the Moscow Railway.

Taking into account the increased need for affordable high-quality, but not expensive long-distance and international communication, in 1999 Transtelecom develops and implements the Phone Card project.

Focusing on connecting nodes with its own fiber-optic cable, Transtelecom gets an undeniable advantage in reliability and quality of services.

Currently, we provide services in more than 200 office centers in Moscow and the Moscow region. The network of Transtelecom JSC is integrated with the digital networks of the leading Russian operators, which guarantees the client uninterrupted and high-quality communication.

The main task is to provide clients with a complex of modern telecommunication services, including telephony, data transmission, virtual private networks, high-speed Internet access.

We carry out comprehensive work to modernize the client's communication system, including the laying of communication lines, the installation of office automatic telephone exchanges and additional equipment.
