What is a "salary" and how does it differ from a salary

Often, most employees do not see the difference between the concepts of salary and salary, which leads to a misunderstanding of the amount of the final amount to be handed out on payslips. By signing employment contracts that reflect the salary amount, employees expect a monthly remuneration in the same amount, not taking into account the impact of personal income tax on the final amount of money paid.

An official salary is a fixed standard amount used to calculate the salary of each employee. When using the salary system in the work of an institution, a staffing table is formed without fail, in which the rates and the corresponding salary for each position are fixed. If the total amount payable to the employee is less than the salary amount established by the employer, then the accounting department does not have the right to accrue it (Article 129 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

The concept of salary is much broader and represents the total amount of money that is accrued and paid to an employee as a reward for his work. It may include bonuses, incentives, compensation payments, advance transfers and a number of other personal bonuses for each individual employee. If an employee has questions about accrual, then he can independently calculate the salary according to the salary, the calculator can be found not only in the online form, but also in the form of a table in Excel.

How to identify and install

The salary value of each employee is associated with a number of indicators:

  • presence (absence) of education;
  • general work experience;
  • qualification characteristics.
  • According to the provisions of Article 135 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, there are three generally accepted systems of remuneration: commission, time, piecework. The salary part is established by the institution on the basis of one of the systems chosen by it.

    For budgetary institutions, it is established by the heads in accordance with paragraph 3 of the "Regulations on the establishment of wage systems for employees of federal budgetary institutions", taking into account all the requirements for professional training and the qualification level necessary to perform the assigned duties and carry out functional activities by profession. The level of complexity and the amount of work performed are also taken into account.

    A document that normalizes working hours in an organization has a great influence on the value. It contains information about working days, weekends and holidays. It is compiled for a period of one year and updated annually. The norms of the production calendar for 2019 are established by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of 01.10.2018 N 1163. Working time standards are determined by the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation of 13.08.2009 No. 588n for both a five-day and a six-day working week.

    In the event that an employee has a monthly DO, his monthly remuneration is not affected by the number of holidays in the month. The salary of salaried employees does not decrease due to the reduction in the number of working days and depends only on the norm of working hours established in the production calendar. If an employee has worked every working day of the month, then his income will be paid in the amount of the established TO.

    Payroll Calculation: Formula and Examples

    In the event that an employee receives a “bare” salary without allowances and additional charges, his monthly remuneration will be calculated according to the following algorithm:

    1. TO / number of working days per month × number of actually worked days.
    2. The calculated amount is 13% (personal income tax).

    Let's look at examples.

    Example 1. An employee worked part-time for a month. Out of 22 working days, 20 were worked (a vacation was taken without saving salary for 2 days). TO - 28,000.00 rubles.

    (28,000.00 / 22) × 20 = 1272.73 × 20 = 25,454.60 rubles.

    25,454.60 - 13% = 22,145.50 rubles. - salary per month;

    Example 2. An employee has worked for a full month. TO - 20,000.00 rubles. The number of days worked coincides with the norm of working days in the current month in the production calendar.

    20,000.00 - 13% = 17,400.00 - salary per month.
