The actions of Alfa Bank may contribute to the bankruptcy of Holiday Group. In the photo in the center is the chairman of the board of directors of the group of companies Nikolai Skorokhodov.

Market participants are not surprised by the current situation. “Nikolay Skorokhodov (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holiday Group of Companies) has encountered difficulties, which, in my opinion, are primarily related to excessive credit burden. He has to solve two rather difficult tasks at the same time - to reduce the debt burden and maintain the attractiveness of stores in head-on competition with the “feds”. It would be very difficult and uncomfortable for me to be in his position today. If you have an exorbitant credit burden, an outdated or unattractive format, then no one will help you - not even Putin or Trump, ”said Holiday’s counterparty, well-known, in an interview with KS. As part of a public lecture at OmSTU, he noted that the credit burden of a group of companies could allegedly reach 20 billion rubles. He did not give any justification for these figures, noting that they were taken from open sources. A source close to the company called the figure of 20 billion rubles absolutely unrealistic and "taken from the ceiling."

At the same time, these measures did not contribute to the rapid financial recovery of the group of companies. Claims from suppliers continue to come in, and the group of companies itself continues to move away from its own retail space. So, for rent and for sale throughout the country from the company.

At the same time, earlier market participants believed that the risks of declaring Holiday Group bankrupt were small. “According to my observations, as soon as there are signs of a decision not in favor of Holiday Group, they immediately pay off the debt. There are certain restrictions - if this or that lawsuit reaches its logical end, and the seizure of assets follows, which contributes to stopping the business, then the company will not allow this. It is important that despite these lawsuits, they have never had a technical default. On the one hand, lawsuits can speak of not very good financial condition group of companies. On the other hand, this behavior can be seen as financial strategy– to stop working with one supplier or another, but still have the opportunity to “twist” their money for six months. The question is how to look at it. Maybe this is the only correct strategy, given the situation in the company, ”-.

Analysts agree with this position, noting that the current situation with suppliers probably allowed the group of companies to liquidate part of the total accounts payable, but did not fundamentally improve the situation. At the same time, the situation with the group of companies as a whole and the risks of its bankruptcy does not mean that Holiday will not retain individual stores, for example, Fermer-Tsentr.rf.

“This direction has prospects. Of course, it is important to understand that the culture of healthy eating is very often only in people's heads, and as a result, frozen chicken and bananas are in the top sales of chains. Whatever one may say, there are assumptions, but there are facts. Yes, this topic will develop, especially against the background of the fact that, with increasing competition in the market, we have, unfortunately, a loss in the quality of the product itself. In this situation, when farm products are sold at a fair price without loss of quality, they will definitely have their buyers. Supermarkets and hypermarkets also have the opportunity to develop this area as a separate segment. And this allows you to stand out from competitors in the future, when, relatively speaking, there will be dozens of hypermarkets around one large city,” ex-sales director of Auchan Russia Oleg Ermishkin.

I agree with this position commercial director of TH "Siberian Giant" Olga Zanina.“Unfortunately, this direction does not show great demand for buyers in the Novosibirsk market - while those players that exist are closing the need for such goods. As for Farmer-Centre.rf, I talked with representatives of the company on this project. In principle, for us, regional networks, the main task is to get away from brands. And they do it. This does not mean that these stores carry a farm product. This is their umbrella brand, which they have developed and plan to develop. This is a survival strategy,” Olga Zanina.

CS will follow further developments.
