Scheme of the sports complex

The sports complex amazes guests with its scale. The total area of the building is 70,000 square meters.

There are three ice arenas under one roof:

  • large arena;
  • small;
  • training.

In addition to three arenas, the layout of the VTB Ice Palace hall includes the following leisure and entertainment facilities:

  • hockey museum;
  • water sports complex;
  • business center;
  • Walk of Fame of Russian Hockey Stars;
  • hotel;
  • cafe;
  • restaurant;
  • children's room;
  • lost and found.

Arena capacity

The three grounds of the palace can accommodate more than 16,000 spectators at a time.

The total capacity of the three arenas of the VTB Ice Palace is 16,500 seats. Moreover, two of them can be transformed into venues for concerts, shows, and competitions in various sports within 12 hours, increasing the number of seats.

  1. The large arena has a capacity of 12,500 seats, after the transformation their number increases to 14,000.
  2. The small arena of the VTB Palace can accommodate 3,500 spectators, and with the installation of a non-slip coating - 5,000.
  3. Training room – capacity up to 500 people, intended for training of the Dynamo hockey club.

The sports complex is designed in such a way that events can take place simultaneously in all arenas without interfering with each other.

Visitor areas

The main purpose of the Ice Palace is sports in all its forms, but special attention is paid to visitors. The entire complex is focused on creating comfort and convenience for those who come to events, concerts, museum visits, and competitions.

Main areas intended for visitors:

  1. Parking. The VTB Ice Palace has significant parking resources. Guests, visitors, as well as employees of the sports complex have the opportunity to securely and conveniently place their vehicle. At the same time, the administration of the complex ensures uninterrupted operation of security, video recording and fire extinguishing.
  2. Children's room. Visitors who come with small children can leave them in a specially equipped room. Children will be greeted by professional animators, interactive games, and bright toys. The room starts working 1.5 hours before the start of the event, and ends an hour after.
  3. Nutrition. There are a huge number of fast-food outlets, cafes, and restaurants on the territory of the sports complex. Each visitor will find food to suit his taste and budget.

VIP boxes

Those who prefer comfort, privacy and a high level of service are provided with VIP boxes. These places are rightfully considered the best in the entire VTB Ice Palace for a number of good reasons:

  • favorable location above the ice, giving a good view from any point;
  • cozy space – from 12 to 34 people;
  • separate entrance;
  • restaurant service.

The Ice Palace (hereinafter referred to as LD) was built specifically for the infamous 2000 World Hockey Championship. Construction began in 1998 and was completed in April 2000, right before the World Cup itself. Design studies were carried out by the design institute JSC LenNIIproekt. The general contractor was the company Skanska East Eurore Oy. This company is responsible for the arenas in Mytishchi, Chelyabinsk, Cherepovets and Yaroslavl. The cost of the work carried out is estimated at approximately $60 million. The Ice Palace is a five-story building with an area of 37,000 m2, a volume of 370,000 m3, with a hockey field area of 30x60 meters (if you remove the hockey boards and move the movable part of the stands, the field area increases to 3300 m2). The height of the hall to the lower belt of the trusses is 22 meters. The façade glazing area is about 5000 m2.

(LD during construction work)

LD is located in the eastern part of the city at 1 Pyatiletok Ave. A pleasant aspect is the Prospekt Bolshevikov metro station located less than a hundred meters away; thanks to such close proximity, the journey from the city center to the palace takes 20-25 minutes.

(LD in Google Map, pay attention to the metro station, which is located a little to the south) (Metro station “Prospekt Bolshevikov”, the photo was taken near the walls of the palace)

To get inside, there are two entrances: Western and Eastern, in addition, a separate entrance for the press and VIP guests on the south side and for players and technical staff on the north. Passage, even if you arrive just before the match, will not take more than five minutes, which, compared to Yubileiny, can be considered instantaneous. After going through a metal detector and police inspection, as well as ticket control, you find yourself in a large foyer. The foyers of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors allow spectators to walk around the hall in a circle. There are 30 cafes in the lobby, there is a cloakroom and many toilet rooms (almost next to every sector). Good ventilation and air conditioning provide spectators with comfortable conditions both in the hall and in the foyer in any weather.

The arena bowl has a classic look, with two tiers of stands separated by VIP boxes. Each tier is divided into 16 sectors, studded with pleasant soft green seats. The arena's capacity is 12,300 fans. At the time of its construction, Ledovy was the most spacious arena in the former USSR, and even now, ten years later, it is second only to Megasport on Khodynka and Minsk Arena. The big drawback is that the seats are located at a considerable distance from the hockey box, especially for the places behind the team benches and penalty boxes. Above sectors 408 and 409 there is the Olympus restaurant overlooking the ice rink. In the area of sector 210 there is an entry gate to the Zamboni ice and other special equipment. technology. (Sector diagram)(General view of the LD ice box)(Please note how far the seats are from the box itself; below for comparison is a picture of the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki)("Hartwal Arena")(210 sector with gates for special equipment)(View of the Olympus restaurant)

The arena has 74 comfortable VIP boxes of various configurations. Each box is a cozy isolated room in which everything is provided for relaxation: a wardrobe, a toilet room, a balcony with armchairs, a large table with restaurant service.

(Interior of VIP boxes)

In the center, under the arches of the arena, there is a video cube. The video cube consists of a circular LED screen 1.2 meters high and four HD television screens, each with an area of 12 m2 (4x3 m). It replaced the octagonal scoreboard, with four television and four LED screens (it must be said that on the previous scoreboard, the screens were of disgusting quality, too light and it was not easy to see anything on them). Starting this season, graphics appeared on the scoreboard.

(Old scoreboard)(LD scoreboard)

The arena has a multifunctional press center hall with an area of 700 m2. It allows you to place a press center in it for holding press conferences dedicated to concerts, sports or any other events, to host a cafe during events; hold banquets and receptions on special occasions.

There are 4 locker rooms for players in the LD. The changing rooms are equipped with lockers and shower rooms. From the locker rooms, two corridors lead to the substitutes' benches, one for the home team, the other for the away team. The benches themselves are quite short, so for example there is no room for a second goalkeeper. The guest and home benches are separated by a space of two meters. (Benches, part of the tunnel to the locker rooms is visible on the right)

Within the walls of the LD there is also a fitness center, massage rooms, a solarium and a jacuzzi.

In addition to hockey itself, the LD hosts a fairly large number of different concerts; for this, four sectors of the stands (207,208, 209 and 210), with the front rows of quickly dismountable structures being transformed into a stage. This configuration is designed for 11,760 spectators. When performing performances by artists whose audience ranges from 3000 to 5000 people. In a fairly short time, the large hall of the Ice Palace, accommodating 11,760 people, is transformed into a chamber hall designed for 3,834 spectators with a “seated” stall, or for 4,153 spectators with a “dance floor”. The transformation is carried out using black acoustic curtains, which completely cover sectors from 204 to 213. This drapery creates a visual sensation of changing the size of the hall, giving it a more compact, intimate look. The stage, measuring 18 by 10 meters, moves far forward (the front edge of the stage is located along the line of spectator passages to sectors 203 and 214). A standard backdrop curtain is placed behind the stage, flanking the backstage. Spectator seats are located both on the second tier (sectors 203 to 214) and on the fourth tier (sectors 403 to 414). In addition, it is planned to install either a “seated stalls” with 281 seats, or a “dance floor” with a capacity of up to 600 people. What is important is that with such a hall configuration, there are practically no places with limited visibility of the stage, or inconvenient ones. (Seating diagram for the large and small halls of the Ice Palace) (Great Hall of the Ice Palace) (Small Hall of the Ice Palace)

On days when no sporting or cultural events are scheduled at the LD, it works like an ice skating rink. The entrance to the skating rink is located from the northern part of the ice skating rink, this is exactly the entrance that the players use to get into the palace, and the skating rink's wardrobe is the players' locker rooms, one is used as a men's room, the other as a women's one. You can also rent skates there. The ride is accompanied by music.

Cost of visiting the skating rink:

Entrance to the skating rink for adults – 350 rubles. (1 hour)

Entrance to the skating rink for children under 7 years old – 250 rubles. (1 hour)

Skate rental for adults – 150 rubles. (1 hour)

Skate rental for children under 7 years old – 100 rubles. (1 hour)

Entrance fee for accompanying persons – 20 rubles. for 1 ticket

In the summer, there is a karting track next to the LD. And in the building of the palace itself there are: an Adidas sportswear store, a branch of the VTB North-West bank, offices of Megafon and MTS, a photo studio, a production center, air and railway ticket offices and Eldorado.

The Moscow Arena of Legends, as the VTB Ice Palace is also called, is the most modern sports arena in Russia. Construction was initiated by Vneshtorgbank (VTB) for the World Ice Hockey Championship, which took place in Russia in 2016.

Best in Russia

The first event held within the walls of this sports facility was the veteran hockey tournament “Legends Cup”. It was within the framework of this tournament that the opening took place in April 2015.

So far, the above-mentioned championship is considered the most significant event within the walls of the VTB Arena.

The main profile of the VTB Ice Palace arena is considered to be hosting hockey matches. Moreover, the ice rink is home to the Kontinental Hockey League club Dynamo (Moscow), which also has VTB as its general sponsor. However, the “Arena of Legends” can host other competitions. Frequent guests here, of course, are figure skating (especially Ilya Averbukh’s show), judo, and professional boxing. Even esports players come here.

Not only sports

Concerts of pop stars are also held here quite often. Ricky Martin, Pet Shop Boys, Victor Drobysh and many others. This is not a complete list of those who have given and will give concerts here. Combining so many different things is possible thanks to the versatility of the arena’s halls. There are three of them here. Large up to 12,000 spectators, Small up to 5,000 seats and a training hall for 200 seats.

High transformability allows you to create a comfortable environment for many different events. The pride of the “Arena of Legends” is a huge media cube, which allows not only to broadcast what is happening to viewers in the upper rows, but also to achieve various special effects. The Ice Palace also has well-equipped special rooms, including a conference hall with 30 seats, restaurants, cafes and bars. Nearby is the hockey museum. There is multi-level parking. A look into the future

This multifunctional complex (Avtozavodskaya str., 23) is located near the former ZIL plant, next to the Avtozavodskaya metro station and is the central object of the “Park of Legends”, which will soon also acquire a water sports complex, a congress center, residential complexes and apartments.

In the Great Hall of the Ice Palace you can hold sports competitions: hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, boxing, all types of wrestling, basketball, volleyball, ballroom dancing, gymnastics; concerts of world-class stars: opera singers, symphony orchestras, performances of modern foreign and domestic pop stars; circus shows; exhibitions and fairs, conferences, celebrations of anniversaries of organizations and companies with tables for up to 1000 seats, a dance floor and a stage. The Great Hall has 11,762 seats and 74 VIP boxes.

In the center of the hall there is a video board, on which there are four television screens with an area of 12 m2 (3x4 m) and 4 information LED boards with an area of 4 m2 (2x2 m), which allows you to see what is happening on the stage or sports field close-up. Large foyers on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors allow viewers to walk around the hall in a circle. There are 30 cafes in the lobby. Good ventilation and air conditioning reliably provide spectators with comfortable conditions both in the hall and in the foyer. The multifunctional hall of the press center with an area of 700 m2 allows it to accommodate a press center during sports competitions, host a cafe during events and host banquets and receptions on special occasions.

If necessary, the Palace hall can be transformed either to increase or decrease capacity.

To hold mass events designed for a larger number of spectators, the Ice Palace offers its partners a new service "The Hall in a Circle" .

The Ice Palace hall, which normally seats up to 11,700 people, is transformed into a more spacious hall, designed for 12,500 spectators in a seated capacity, by placing the stage in the center of the hall and opening all sectors (as in a configuration for hockey or figure skating). stalls or up to 14,500 spectators on the “dance floor”. You can see photos of the hall

For events designed for a smaller number of spectators, the Ice Palace offers the service "Hall within a Hall" . In a few hours, the large hall of the Ice Palace is transformed into a more compact hall, designed for 6,126 spectators. The transformation is carried out using black acoustic curtains, which completely cover the 4th tier of the Palace. This service can be used when holding concerts designed for a relatively small audience of 5,000 - 6,000 people.

NEW HALL CONFIGURATION

Middle Hall

In a fairly short time, the large hall of the Ice Palace, accommodating 11,762 people, is transformed into a small "Middle" hall , designed for 5478 spectators under the condition of a “seated” stall, or on 6307 spectators on the dance floor. The transformation is carried out using black acoustic curtains, which completely cover sectors from 205 to 212. This drapery creates a visual sensation of changing the size of the hall, giving it a more compact appearance. The stage, measuring 18 by 10 meters, extends far forward (the front edge of the stage is located along the line of spectator passages in sectors 204 and 213). A standard backdrop curtain is placed behind the stage, flanking the backstage.

Spectator seats are located both on the second tier (sectors 204 to 213) and on the fourth tier (sectors 404 to 413). In addition, it is expected to install either "seated stalls" for 671 seats , or "dance floor" with a capacity of up to 1500 people .

This service can be used for performances by artists whose audience range is within 5000 - 6000 people . What is important is that with such a hall configuration, there are practically no places with limited visibility of the stage, or inconvenient ones.

Small Hall

When holding events designed for an even smaller number of spectators, the large hall can be transformed into a chamber hall "Small" hall, designed for 3834 spectator provided that the stalls are seated, or on 4153 spectator at the "dance floor";. In this configuration, sectors from 204 to 213 completely overlap. The drapery creates a visual sensation of changing the size of the hall, giving it an even more compact, intimate look. The stage, measuring 18 by 10 meters, moves far forward (the front edge of the stage is located along the line of spectator passages to sectors 203 and 214). A standard backdrop curtain is placed behind the stage, flanking the backstage.
