I have been living in Spain for about 6 years, and I would like to tell you what kind of work there is for Russians in Europe, where you can go to work if you have no education, no work visa (work permit), and you don’t know how to do anything. My first experience in this specialty took place in the cleaning company “De Limpieza”, which, oddly enough, was owned by my downstairs neighbor, let's call her Eva, a native of Poland.

The meaning of the work of such companies is as follows: the director finds contracts, orders for cleaning apartments, hotels, restaurants, as well as people who are ready to work cheaply.

You are probably wondering how much a cleaning lady in Europe earns. In monetary terms, the company's rate is 12 euros per hour, of which the company takes 6 euros to pay taxes and expenses.

The first exit to work in the apartment

And here it is, the long-awaited call from a neighbor, and we are moving forward for the first task. I was handed a huge cart with cleaning equipment, and with the proud face of a hard-working woman I go to clean my first apartment. It turned out to be small, the only thing that bothered me was that at the time of cleaning it was its owners.

I have three children, for me cleaning is a familiar thing and does not scare me at all. I completed the job in about 2.5 hours, and at the end I accidentally broke my shin on the corner of a glass table. I was in unbearable pain, but not only from physical pain, but from the indifference of people (in Spain this is a rare occurrence) - they did not offer me any help. Ok, I went home, firmly holding my first earned 15 euros in my hands.

Laundry work

A few days later she called me again, this time it was about working at the reception in her laundry. That prospect suited me just fine. It was proposed to work at night, to sit and watch how the machines work - it's not difficult, it's easier than working for hours physically. I came to the office - it is also a laundry - I had to wash the floor, as usual, then they began to teach me how to use washing machines, dryers and ironing machines.

Their company serves several hotels and restaurants under contracts. Linen is washed from hotels, and tablecloths and napkins from restaurants. Laundry uses strong chemicals. When I opened the bleach jar, I felt a slight malaise. In my opinion, if you use such products every day, you can ruin your health.

There was an embarrassment, engine oil was spilled, respectively, I began to learn how to clean the floor from oil. It was complicated. After I had been at the workplace for about six hours, Eva's husband announced to me that it was all an unpaid internship. Anyway, knowledge is power, let's hope that I did not spend time in vain, gained new knowledge and professional skills. I got ready and went home to wait for the promised job at the reception.

8:30 am, Sunday, I come to the office, Eve gives Me the task to clean the floor. I start work, and at that moment she, sitting at the table, drinking beer, tells how difficult it is to live, how expensive it is to pay for electricity and water, and at the end of the work she says that she will pay next time. I felt sad, to put it mildly, but okay, wait. With her next call, we planned to go clean the apartment. I came to the meeting place - I was asked to clean the office again, well, I smelled something was wrong. What can I say, I was not paid again - and since then we have not communicated.

Work for yourself. Independent search for cleaning orders

Living in Europe, over time you find many acquaintances who can, so to speak, recommend you. Since the beginning of the season, everyone is trying to rent out their apartments to tourists. For this they get good money (about 100 euros - but this is not the maximum - per day).

The next vacancy that I got was cleaning apartments rented out to tourists through booking.com. Career growth is evident, payment of 8 euros per hour is promised. The apartment was located in the heart of Salou, overlooking the sea, around a bunch of bars, restaurants and discos. But when I entered this apartment, I realized that everything was not so great - I became scared. Let's start with the fact that I was given 2 hours to clean, and during the off-season (7-8 months) a woman lived in the apartment who did not clean at all. I don’t even know how I can describe it to you, you can probably imagine, although I could not imagine that this was possible.

I got to work, for some time the landlady was with me and all the time lamented that clients write bad reviews about her, about her, so to speak, mansions. Looking at the bedding, dirty pillows, old worn towels, stained mattresses, I became discouraged, all this reminded me of a children's hospital in Belarus, where I worked for some time in the zero. The hostess could solve these problems by investing 50 euros, which is half the price of daily rent. But she chose to complain and get bad reviews. Honestly, I tried to bring comfort, but, apparently, it didn’t work out, and the bad reviews did their job.

During the season, the cleaning lady is always busy

wait in season new job it didn't take long. The next was a house in a wealthy area, bought by its Russian owner for 3,000,000 euros. And again, career growth, is it not a joke - 10 euros per hour. Expensive area built up with typical villas for sale.

Very beautiful in the photo, these houses are not very suitable for long-term living, like most of the buildings erected during the construction boom that occurred here in the 2000s. Many of these houses were built, not really caring about quality. The interior walls are thin, there is mold in the basement. Inside, everything is lined with inexpensive Zara home furniture. Walk to the sea for at least an hour in the scorching sun. There is no bus stop nearby as well as a supermarket, pharmacies and other things. If you are going to buy an apartment or a house in Spain - do not rush to accept offers from agencies showing nice pictures. Pay attention to the quality of construction, make sure that there is a developed infrastructure in the area, and even more desirable - ask to live in this house for another month - during this time you will see all the disadvantages and advantages.

Oh, something I digress from the main topic - cleaning. Beautiful and obviously expensive paintings on the walls, Veuve Clicquot and other interesting drinks in the bar. Often came across jewelry, frightening with its cost. It took 5 hours to clean this house. Having received my 50 euros for the work, I parted ways with the owner - we were satisfied with each other. Several times I came to clean this house, but one day, while cleaning, I heard a call - the owner was talking on the speakerphone, her husband complained about problems in the business and suggested that she cut costs, for example, clean the house herself (what a nightmare). As you understand, I was the last time in this house.

Work in a hotel - housekeeping

Quite quickly, through friends, I found a new job. And we went to the white hotel. Serious career development this time it did not happen, apparently, 10 euros per hour - my professional ceiling. Cleaning the rooms in the apartments (since there is a kitchen) takes 4 hours for two with a partner - we vacuum, wash the plumbing, wipe the dust and wash the floor. For all this we use special means. We try not to move the belongings of the people living there. Room cleaning is easy, in the process of work, hotel guests are not in the room.

I often see interesting things in the rooms, for example, the Apple charging cable, which does not break, it is protected by a braided cord, I didn’t even know that this existed, having changed a dozen cables for chargers. But you can’t take someone else’s - I’ll look on eBay. And yet, working in a hotel, you can take advantage of your official position. For example, take the key for a while and spend some time there with your beloved husband.

Advice for job seekers in Europe

If you come to Spain or another European country for the winter and want to earn extra money for a European salary, find clients through your friends, do not use the services of companies like the one owned by my neighbor - you will either be deceived or you will work for pennies. Don't be afraid to ask for what you've earned, don't listen to their stories, you're the one working for them. It is very hard work, both mentally and physically.

I lived in Spain for about six years, traveled a lot. We have stayed in both hotels and apartments. Leaving the room, I tried to make everything look decent, I respect the work of others. Nobody knows where we might be tomorrow. People working in the service sector, whether they are cleaners, waiters, guides, recipeists, drivers, become misanthropes, stop respecting people, because during this time they meet not the best representatives. You always need to understand that this is just a job.

The salary of 40 euros for half a day, by European standards, is so-so, but this is help to the family budget.
