How to make money without higher education. Why don't you go to study? “If I had a diploma, I would probably go to work somewhere in the outback, in a difficult school with difficult children”

  • 25.03.2020

To find interesting professions that will be hired without a diploma, we rummaged through job search sites. Some vacancies where you can work without special education turned out to be so cool that send your resume at least now.

Work for food

The first group of professions for which crusts are not needed is associated exclusively with natural talent. To become a taster, you need sensitive receptors and a love of food. The most attractive vacancies are associated with sweets and what is sweet to drink.

Cake taster

kristofcakes.ru

The confectionery factory of Christoph Laermans was looking for a person who is able to eat 2.5 kg of sweets a day. Required for employment medical book and the absence of allergies, and the company gave a salary, a discount on factory products and paid for a gym membership.

tea tester

A tea taster is a person who tastes tea. Such employees are needed when a company is going to purchase a batch of goods: they determine how high-quality tea suppliers offer. And for this you have to travel to India, Africa, China and, in general, to all countries that produce tea.

The tester also drinks tea after purchases: he checks whether the taste has changed after transportation and packaging at the factory.

When we were given this vacancy for the selection of a candidate, the requirements were as follows: the first is to love tea, the second is to have a certain physiological sensitivity, the ability to determine astringency and aroma. It should be noted that salaries are high: this profession is rare.

Natalia Storozheva, CEO recruitment agency"Perspective"

In Russia, the profession is not taught anywhere, so the company itself recruits people and sends them to study abroad. All you need is experience and more experience.

Work for travel

Not everyone can be a taster if the tea from the bag does not taste different from the rare loose tea from the leaves. To become a traveler, you need much less natural data, there would be a desire.

Tourism manager

A fairly common vacancy for which special education is not needed. Just such a "rough" work in tourism will become a substitute for any university.

The advantage of the work is the opportunity to go on special study tours, which are usually held out of season. Minus - low starting salary, but there is an opportunity to develop and become an expert in the areas.

Olga Evstratova, commercial director of the Caribbean Club

The manager communicates with clients, studies the offers of hotels and guides in different countries and makes sure that the expectations of clients coincide with the capabilities of the host.

Leisure Director

This seems to be the highest stage in the development of a tourism manager. The One to Trip company offers everyone over 18 years old with a passport and decent English, performing crazy tasks. Then be sure to report on the trip, but not to the authorities, but to the whole world: tell the details and give advice to the company's subscribers.

Professional Traveler

A vacancy similar to a director of recreation: a person with knowledge of English, a passport, active and sociable is required.

The traveler had to deliver hornbeams (orders of our users), communicate with customers and conduct interviews with them, blog about bargain shopping abroad, tips and experiences from our users, create content for our social networks and help other travelers.

Daria Child, founder of Grabr

An additional item in the job requirements is love for. We need a person for whom Black Friday is not the name of a horror movie, but the event of the year.

Work for interest

Making money on a hobby is not only about making soap and baking cakes to order. There are also unexpected options.

car navigator

Roman Gerasimov, navigator of the FONBET Trophy-Team, author and host of the Motorsport in Faces project, spoke about this profession.

To become a navigator, you must first get to the next competition by anyone: a spectator to understand if you like this type of motorsport, an assistant referee to learn about the organization of the race from the inside, a pilot if you have your own car. The main thing is to understand that you are ready to endure all this.

Roman Gerasimov

In trophy-raids, the navigator is the “eyes” of the crew, it is he who knows where to go, and also keeps track of time, instruments and works with sports documents. Also, in case the car gets stuck, the navigator works with an electric winch, jack and shovel to get the car out.

At the initial stage, you need to study navigation devices, competition rules, terms and tools. It is important to work on physical preparation, because moving through the swamps is difficult.

Payment for the work of a navigator at the initial stage can be small, it depends on the experience and reputation of each specific specialist. Outstanding representatives may be noticed by major sports teams and hired permanently. The employment of the navigator is episodic, usually on weekends, when trophy raids take place more often. That is, you can combine with other work.

Profession without a name

This is a job for those whose hobby is to mess around.

Alexander Malafeev, HR director at Srochnodengi, says: “A couple of months ago, one of my Facebook friends posted a vacancy as part of his sociological project. He could not come up with a name for this vacancy, because the main functional duty This position was that you need to sit at an empty office desk all day and do nothing. It was necessary to understand how much an ordinary average citizen could endure such torture for money, and also what his motivation was. I will say right away that there were enough responses.”

Party King

April 2016 mobile app JoyME was looking for a candidate for the position of "Party King". Responsibilities: know everything about entertainment, fashion shows, crossfit, racing and parties in Moscow. The party king had to attend all these events (although this is not always easy), make friends and attract users of the application, and at the same time look for partners to further develop the business. Education did not matter, but the ability to pass any face control was needed.

Work that helps

There is such a profession - to help people. For example, look after while the owners are away, walk if the owners are busy, comb out and even teach the dog to speak. The YouDo.com service helped with a selection of such professions, where they often look for unusual assistants:

  • A man who makes friends a cat and a dog.
  • A responsible man who will remind you three times a day that it's time to drink medicine.
  • A cheerful girl who will play the role of a soulmate in front of relatives at a family evening.
  • A music lover who can compile an original playlist with comments.
  • An assiduous person who completes a big puzzle.

And that's not counting the standard requests to get in line or help with cleaning. You are unlikely to make a career in this area, but if you like helping people, then why not make money on it.

HR vice versa

Recruitment specialists learn right away “in the fields”, where they have to evaluate people. Typically, an HR manager works with applicants. But sometimes the “wrong” HR is required.

Elena Sentsova, Human Resources Manager at STS Group, says: “STS Group specializes in outsourcing and personnel leasing, as well as outstaffing. Common in our facilities shift method work. The watch lasts 45, 60 days and more - at the choice of the person. Then contract of employment closed with him.

Employees do it unusual profession- layoff managers. The layoff manager is the reverse secretary. He escorts shift workers on vacation and makes the process as comfortable as possible. Later calls people, offers to continue cooperation. Such care is bearing fruit: more than half of the specialists return.”

You can work as a layoff manager without education. The main requirements for such specialists are a positive outlook on life, sociability, the ability to establish contact with owners of even the most complex character.

We found all the listed professions in less than a week. And these are not all cool positions that do not require a diploma. Tell us in the comments what vacancies for "ignoramuses" you saw.

Is it possible to make good money without higher education? What does that require?

One of the pernicious stereotypes laid down by most parents of a child is the need for higher education as a prerequisite for success in life. They argue their position by the fact that without higher education it is impossible to get a prestigious, high paying job in good company. Indeed, many HR managers at leading corporations only consider a resume that says they have a college degree.

But does this mean that without a diploma it is impossible to succeed and earn money? Not at all. There are many ways to have a source of income without the notorious university crust.

  • Services sector. There are a number of professions that can promise good earnings, and you can master them in courses that do not last 5 years, but much less. We are talking about photographers, designers, fashion and beauty industry specialists, etc. Some teachers or doctors are outraged that they spent 5 years of higher education at the institute, and in the end they earn less than "the girl who does the manicure." As they say, who studied what.
  • Business. Entrepreneurial activity is more about the qualities of a person than his knowledge (see the article ""), since an entrepreneur can hire employees who are competent in the required areas. Making money without a higher education while doing business is, as they say, a classic of the genre. There are many examples of successful millionaire entrepreneurs who never graduated from the university, and some did not even graduate from school (see the article "").
  • Persistence. There are exceptions when people who are persistent in achieving goals manage to get a job in a prestigious company without higher education. Thanks to their perseverance, they find ways to get a job in one or another corporation (up to working as a janitor with an eye to go into the category).

Some also wonder why many without college degrees make good money, while people with diplomas do not. Obviously, the answer here lies in the difference in thinking style. Those who have achieved success without going to college are more practical in solving problems. They are used to dealing with real situations. Those who attended the university for 5 years are too accustomed to theoretical, abstract from practice and real life concepts and categories. In addition, 5 years of communication with theoretical teachers also does not pass without a trace for thinking (see also the article "").

In our country, there is still an indestructible faith of people in higher education, which is mandatory for a good job. In fact, a qualified specialist has the opportunity to earn really good money. But, unfortunately, only a few, graduating from the university, go to work in their chosen specialty. The majority, however, have to adapt to the requirements of the market, completely leveling the experience gained over the five invaluable years spent on the student bench.
Meanwhile, a good, well-paid job can be obtained without spending money and time on higher education. I have compiled a list of the most interesting, and, more importantly, the highest paid professions in Russia, where candidates can do without higher education.

Work in today's world is very important. And all children from the cradle are instilled with the opinion that without education, training, experience and special skills, it is impossible to achieve a place in the sun. In fact, this is a stereotype. But it still follows every new generation. After all, after spending 5-6 years at the university, it is very difficult to admit later that you could do without it. Working without education and without experience is far from the greatest rarity. And you don’t have to think that the career of some kind of loader or cleaner is shining for you. Let's get acquainted with some vacancies that may be your "gold mine".

We evaluate ourselves

No education or experience? You need to start by evaluating yourself. More precisely, their strengths and capabilities. Maybe the job of a loader or cleaner is really more suitable for you. But often the problem of employment is faced by people who, for some reason, refused to receive special education. They are more eager to work right after school.

In this case, a job without education and without experience can be found quite quickly. But before looking for suitable vacancies, it is better to evaluate your health, skills, abilities and character. So, for example, if you are an ambitious, open, active person, then you are more fit job in tourism or in the field of sales. But it would be good for assiduous candidates with willpower to choose office work or something like that. After you can assess your skills and capabilities, start searching and analyzing vacancies.

Fast food cafe worker

Work without education and without experience can start from school. So, it is worth paying attention to the vacancies that are chosen by students. For example, a very popular place is a cafe fast food. Here you can earn not much, but enough to live on. Especially if you don't need to rent a house.

Working without education and without in a fast food cafe is not at all a shame, as many believe. The real shame is getting a higher education and then being completely unemployed. Or go to a vacancy, where they take a university diploma.

To achieve success and a good salary, this work without education and without experience requires a lot from the applicant. For example, quick learning, stress resistance, activity and politeness. Be prepared for the fact that all day you have to run from the cash register to the kitchen, cook, smile, take orders, and so on - all the time. Basically, sometimes it's worth it. After all, over time, you can be promoted to a senior manager. And then you don't have to cook. Your responsibilities will include supervising newcomers.

Music

Work without education and work experience, to be honest, is diverse. For example, if you have a hearing and you can easily and simply become a musician. True, for safety it would be better to finish music school Or take some courses.

If you take a good look, then many creative people just occupy vacancies without education and work experience. And with all this they receive millions for the performance of their duties. If you decide to become a musician, prepare yourself for the fact that at the very beginning you will most likely not succeed. But over time, you will definitely be able to become famous. For example, within your city. This, of course, is not world famous, but also quite a worthy indicator. And if you're lucky, you can hope for a world career as a musician.

Nanny

Working in Moscow without experience and education, for example, sometimes offers nanny jobs for girls. True, in most cases, applicants are required to have a pedagogical education. But there are exceptions, and quite often. For example, when there is a catastrophic lack of personnel, and also if the girl has her own child.

Nanny is not the best highly paid position. But only if you decide to become a private nanny or you manage to get a job in a good company, you can count on huge success. The average salary of a good nanny is 30,000. And all without education and without experience. If you graduated from a pedagogical institute or college, you can hope to receive 45-50 thousand rubles a month. True, the selection in such prestigious firms is very tough.

Sales Manager

There is also such a job without experience and without special education, which suits most applicants. This is a job for a sales manager. It doesn't matter what exactly. This profession has become extremely popular among all ages. Especially when you consider the fact that you can independently regulate your own earnings.

Usually, good manager on sales receives from 30,000 rubles. But in order to earn large sums, you will have to work, and not sit and wait for customers to come to you. All it takes is the ability to persuade. He can always learn. One has only to find a job, and then start promoting your product, and you will see the result of the work very quickly.

True, in recent years, earnings on this vacancy have decreased slightly. And it's not a crisis at all. The competition in the market for goods and services is intense. Therefore, you have to constantly prove that your products are worthy of attention. Sometimes it is quite difficult to do this. But giving up a career as a sales manager is not worth it.

Photographer

A good job without experience and education exists. For example, another worthy vacancy is a photographer. In order to be called a real master, you can complete photography courses. They last for several months. After that, you can arrange your own career.

On average, a photographer receives from 45,000 rubles. It is good if you become a children's and wedding photographer. So, for example, you can get from 50,000 rubles for 1 day of shooting. As a rule, it takes little time to process a photo. And orders, especially in summer time, a lot of.

How to start a photography career? This can help you social networks. Create your own group, post some of your work and price list there. After that, wait. Also, ask your friends if anyone needs a photographer. A few successful photo shoots - and fame is guaranteed to you. In any case, such as to receive a fairly high income.

Actor

There are some non-standard work without education and without experience. It's about a career as an actor. To be honest, many famous people in cinema have never studied anywhere before. Just finished school. That is, they received basic knowledge.

To become an actor, you need to have talent. And if you have one, then just go to different auditions and castings, send out your profiles and wait for the results. Over time, you will definitely succeed.

If in doubt, we can recall the famous actor Johnny Depp. This man admitted that he hardly graduated from high school and never studied at a university. And with all this, he makes very good money. So there is always an opportunity to become famous. And the level of education has nothing to do with it. The main thing is to have talent. And, of course, don't give up. Be prepared to fail at first. They will make you stronger. But if you really strive for an acting career, you can always achieve great success.

Writer

Is it possible to work from home without education and experience? Of course, yes. You just have to look hard for it. The vacancy of the writer will be very interesting. Now, perhaps, anyone can build such a career.

The main thing here is the ability to write. Imagine, come up with interesting stories and describe them. Try to start with small stories. Publish them online. This is how you grab the attention of your audience. After that, take up writing serious books.

There are several ways to become a writer. The first is to become famous through the so-called samizdat. A method when you publish and replicate books for your own money. Very helpful at first. The second option is to build a career through a publishing house. To do this, you will have to prove that it is your work that has a huge advantage over others. What exactly should it be released. And what can your book bring good income. But get ready for rejection. The main thing - do not lose heart. Over time, you will definitely succeed. And if you write a bestseller, you are guaranteed a quick and huge income.

Entrepreneurship

Another very popular move is the creation of IP. Now entrepreneurial activity every third person in Russia does it. And often this technique allows, without education and work experience, to receive a stable and good income. So you can try to do this activity.

The main thing here is to choose the right direction. You should not create legal offices or open clothing stores. It is best, for example, to open a private beauty salon or a computer help service. It will be possible to choose a good direction - and the money will go into your hands.

However, sometimes it is better to have an education. Or completed courses in economics and accounting. This will save money and reduce the cost of maintaining documentation.

Freelance

Well, the most popular way to build a career without work experience and education is nothing more than freelancing. To be honest, it is this occupation that everyone can earn - both children and adults. Even mothers with babies who are on maternity leave. Special education is not required, but professional skills should be. For example, in the field of writing articles, as well as in the field of editing computer graphics.

To start a freelance career, you will need to get an e-wallet, as well as find suitable exchange freelance. For example, "Advego". Here you can easily and simply register, specify your wallet for calculations, and also find a job to do. You take an order, fulfill it, hand it over, receive payment and rejoice. Usually a freelancer receives an average of 20,000 rubles. But this is at first. In the process of work, you will be able to increase your income up to 100,000. And this is not a fairy tale. As you can see, work without education and work experience is a reality. The main thing is to be motivated to work independently.

Reader Stories T-Z

Recently, we asked readers T-F,

Based on the results of the discussion, we chose several stories: how to decide to quit meaningless studies at the university, how a diploma in the IT field affects income, and whether programmers can really learn everything on a home computer.

“Compared to vacancies for translators from Chinese, I get one and a half to two times more”

Alexey Faizulin

Who did you study for: Chinese translator

Who works: sound engineer and sound producer

Income: 150 thousand rubles per month

I was programmed since childhood that higher education is essential for success. But making a meaningful choice after graduation is difficult: in my life I saw quite a bit more, like my parents, so I just went with the flow. Many friends went to study at Tomsk State University, my mother then also lived in Tomsk - in general, I am from small town Yurgi of the Kemerovo region, - so I decided that this was a good idea.

Because at school I really liked foreign languages, decided to enter the specialty "Translation and Translation Studies". I wanted to study English, but I did not prepare well for the entrance exam and did not score enough points. But he went to Chinese - and once again allowed himself to be convinced that this is promising, good money in the future, and so on.

I studied there until the second year. I could not understand why a future translator from Chinese would constantly retake an exam in ancient culture and mythology Ancient Greece or how performance in physical education can affect later careers.

This pretty quickly killed my desire to learn, despite the fact that the language turned out to be interesting.

I was increasingly drawn to my hobby - music. Educational credit was on the rise, and I decided to stop wasting time and money on things that weren't fun. So he dropped out.

Of course, my hobby did not immediately become a job with stable income. Therefore, while I lived in Tomsk, I worked at a sawmill, and at a construction site, and as a promoter at MTS, but there was no adequate money there. Mom helped until the music began to bring some kind of income.

I moved to Moscow, started a family and experienced a completely different scale of spending. My unstable monthly income from music - 15-30 thousand rubles - did not allow me to live here at all. For the first time, I had to get a job as a cashier at Auchan through an outsourcing company, it was the highest paid vacancy of those that allowed me to work in any schedule that was convenient for me.

I started by building a portfolio and honing my skills on my musical group, then posted an ad about mixing songs on a thematic forum. One person responded. They began to work with him. His work was heard by another, turned to me - and so on in a chain. The process was slow, but the most honest, I think. For 8 years I have never used any marketing tools.

Now in my client base about 400 people average income- about 150 thousand per month. And this is far from the limit: in especially successful months and now more than 200 thousand are released. Plus, you can get into the related field of audio production for videos - you already had experience - and the money there is completely different.

15 000 R

brought passion for music at the very beginning

If demand rises, I have a choice: either work more or balance it by raising prices and get more for less work. Hired employees of this, as a rule, are deprived.

In addition, now I have no ceiling on earnings and a clear schedule.

Compared to the vacancies of teachers and translators from Chinese, I get one and a half to two times more. I think that with such a specialty, you can make good money only by tutoring. But then, in addition to knowing the language, you also need a pedagogical skill. Of course, salaries are higher somewhere, but they require experience, luck, and much more.

I think that The best way gain knowledge - be in a professional environment and experiment. At the university, I paid for 5 years of study, including that which will never be needed. Here they pay me, and I grow with each completed order, getting only the necessary skills.

200 000 R

and you can earn more now in good months

I follow what's new in my field, watch or attend our and foreign workshops and try to apply what I learn. If I now went to study, then not so much for the sake of knowledge, but for the sake of connections. In my opinion, this is one of the undeniable advantages of higher education over self-education: you communicate with people from your industry, acquire acquaintances that can help you in the future. Perhaps I will still study, but in another country. For example, my current specialty is well taught in the USA. But it's expensive.

Of course, there are professions that are impossible without proper education: doctors, engineers, architects, and so on. In other cases, I would rather hire a person with burning eyes, but without a diploma, than a certified, but uninitiated specialist.

“If I had a diploma, I would probably go to work somewhere in the outback, in a difficult school with difficult children”

Ksenia Kuznetsova

Who did you study for: chemist, economist and teacher

Who works: IT project manager

Income: 120-150 thousand rubles per month

At school, I was an excellent student, a book child, but I had no idea what a profession was and how to choose it at the age of 16. Of all the lessons, chemistry seemed the most interesting to me, so I entered the Faculty of Chemistry at the Lobachevsky State University in Nizhny Novgorod. I studied in the evening and worked. The work was interesting, but the studies were not, so I increasingly stayed at work in the evening until I stopped going to university altogether. Trained for less than three years.

The second time I entered the correspondence department of something economic already in Murom. It seemed to take a year. I finally realized that sitting out various boredom for hours for five years for the sake of a crust is not mine.

For the third time, I decided to try for real: the unrealized teacher in me rushed out. I moved to Moscow and entered a pedagogical university. But, alas, interesting job, from which I received money, albeit small, and returns right now, again gradually nullified boring studies. I, perhaps, regret this: the conditions at work made it possible to sit out five years of study without any problems. But, apparently, there was not enough motivation: our pedagogical education is rather dead, and the diploma is still insufficient motivation for me.

I started working completely from scratch in one well-known design studio, where I was taken without experience for my beautiful eyes, bright head and a correct understanding of what design is. Then I changed several more studios involved in custom web and mobile development, tried to gradually increase the complexity of projects - otherwise it was boring - and at some point I suddenly hit a ceiling: I found that I can’t do more complex projects, I just don’t understand what people around are talking about lacks programming or engineering experience or education.

It turns out that you can travel with excellent communication skills and general erudition only up to a certain point.

This plunged me into a terrible longing, because I categorically did not want to become a techie, it always seemed to me that my best talent was the ability to balance between techies and business. In this state of existential crisis, my current employer found me. Now I have an ideal job: on the one hand, the IT world familiar and dear to me, on the other hand, I don’t have to pretend to be who I can’t be yet.

I was invited to work in a large IT company by an old friend, the director of one of the departments that deals with custom development and implementation. Any director in such a job sooner or later discovers that he is mainly engaged in making money, has little time to look after current client projects and generally does not have time to build and establish some processes inside. The internal infrastructure is decrepit, the regulations are morally obsolete, no one really remembers why in 2008 they decided to calculate this indicator this way and not otherwise, everyone whines, everything is uncomfortable for everyone. We need a separate head, which will not be distracted by client - a priori more important - tasks, but very few places have such. This is what I do here. Formally, my position is called “deputy director”, but, in fact, I am a manager internal projects.

My income is now somewhere in the region of 120-150 thousand and should continue to grow. If I had a technical education - not just a diploma! - and I would be a technically savvy project manager, then the salary would be more.

I could already now earn from 200 thousand or more: the market in this area is generous.

All the most complex, promising and highly paid programming is now associated with mathematics: data analysis, neural networks, robots, artificial intelligence and so on. At the same time, programming, in the sense of coding, is an applied thing, you can learn it at your home computer. But to master mathematics at home at the level at which it is taught somewhere like the VMK Moscow State University is difficult, and from some point, purely technically, the capacities will no longer be enough. And it turns out that if you need a programmer to write code, you take an experienced, adequate one and do not look at where he studied and whether he studied. And if you need a star to move you somewhere towards the front edge modern technologies- then you screen out candidates for a very short list of universities and faculties.

Several times I thought about going somewhere in education, but for this I do not have enough diploma: in the field of education everything is very strict with formalities, especially at school. If I had a diploma, I probably would have gone to work somewhere in the outback, in a difficult school with difficult children, in some kind of boarding school: all this asceticism in the spirit of the populists of the late 19th century is very close to me. But no, it’s already clear that it didn’t work out, I definitely won’t try for the fourth time.

200 000 R

what would be the salary if you had a technical education

“If I was offered to return to 2013, I would still go to university”

Nikita Trofimov

Who did you study for: IT-specialist

Who works: programmer

Income: 175 thousand rubles per month

Until about the 10th grade, I thought that I would go to the economist, since many in my family worked in financial sector. I actively prepared to take mathematics, I had an experienced teacher. He advised to go into IT, because having an education in the field of computer science and mathematics, you can find an application in any field.

They chose the university, taking into account not only the history and significance, but also modern trends in education, cooperation with large companies like Yandex or Mail-ru. Plekhanovka, MESI and RANEPA were considered, but HSE was a priority - as a result, he entered the budget at MIEM NRU HSE at the Faculty of Applied Informatics. But I did not study very responsibly, I skipped a lot, and after the first year I was expelled for poor progress.

Despite this, I really liked the IT sphere, and I studied website layout using various tutorials on the Internet.

Then he transferred to the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics at the Faculty of Mathematical Economics, Statistics and Informatics (FMESI). He studied well, in the second year he began to earn extra money. First, I found a person on Avito who needed to maintain an online store and create new ones. I worked with him for about three months: the relationship did not work out, as he began to pay less than the amount that we discussed, and we worked without contracts, on parole.

After that, he got into a team that was engaged in the development of sites. The work was remote, so it was easy to combine with study. They paid responsibly, 10-15 thousand a month came out - for me it was just right, given that I lived with my parents and did not spend so much.

After two courses in Plekhanovka, I decided to move to Krasnodar: my girlfriend lived there, now my wife. Relatives supported me, and I transferred to the Kuban State University at the Faculty of Computer Technology and Applied Mathematics for the 3rd year. To do this, it was necessary to finish 17 disciplines.

I continued to work remotely with the same guys and, of course, did not stop improving my skills: I already studied Javascript programming.

My first official work, With work book, is a front-end developer at Breffi Group, which develops information solutions for medical companies. I found a vacancy on the My Circle platform, passed the test task, talked with the team leads - and they hired me. The salary was 50 thousand rubles after taxes, which was excellent for a 3rd year student.

I decided that technical skills were important in hiring, and education was not so important, and I dropped out of university to focus on practice and building a reputation in the IT field.

Although the decision was not easy.

All peers continued to study, the opinion of others crushed.

Since then, he has worked in several other places. For example, in a German startup in the field of gastronomy and food delivery. Salaries in foreign companies much higher. At the same time, it is also profitable for them to work with us: in Europe, a mid-level developer receives about 18 euros per hour, and I was paid 10 euros, which is 115-120 thousand per month, which is very good for a mid-level developer in Russia.

They didn’t ask me about higher education there: they were interested in the projects that I did and my experience in working in a team.

In general, I had a lot of interviews, and many of them were unsuccessful. But I consider them one of the points of self-study. Therefore, I was interviewed in other companies, even when I was not going to change jobs, and I tried to choose higher positions. This allowed me to understand where what qualities and skills are needed, make a list of requirements and realize my weaknesses. Questions about education were asked to me very rarely, and then more for the sake of interest, this did not affect the result. Basically, a diploma is needed in state companies, the rest don't care. This is a huge advantage of the IT industry: skills are more important than education.

Now I'm moving to Moscow, I will work at the I-Teco company in the position of "senior javascript developer". There my salary will be 175 thousand rubles. This is several times more than that of peers who received a diploma.

Many peers are now studying for a master's degree and earn 40-50 thousand rubles.

But if I were offered to return to 2013, I would still go to university. Firstly, preparation for the exam and the desire to enter harden. Secondly, only there I understood how education works, what is its main problem and why I can achieve more without it and in a shorter period of time.

Of the minuses: most universities teach outdated technologies that are no longer used. But the problem is also that those who are actively developing in the IT field do not tend to stay at universities to teach others, but move to large companies for a higher salary. This problem is solved by online and offline courses - not only in programming, but also in marketing, business, and so on.

I had to not only master a certain area on my own, but also learn how to learn. Basically, I learned everything from video tutorials, since there are many of them and they are free. True, it is difficult to filter good lessons, there were a lot of amateurs. I supported the video tutorials with articles from Habrahabr and Medium, just googled the questions that needed answers. And, of course, you need to try as quickly as possible, by any means to find a job, because it is very difficult to give tasks to yourself. And real projects require high-quality implementation, while the team will always help and prompt. But the main thing is the opportunity to see the result of work in real life and quickly build a portfolio.

Having moved to Moscow, I plan to recover in Plekhanovka and finish my studies, if it is possible to combine it with work. It's hard to say why I want to do this. Of course, I missed my studies at the university a little.
